Quite a random, slumbook-type list, but something that can be quite informative and definitely fun to do. Feel free to lift and make your own list for your blog!
Preferred color(s): white, cream, dark red, aqua, and hot pink
Favorite flower: I used to really adore daisies, but have grown tired of them overtime. Roses are such a classic and I will always love them in any color.
Scent: I wear vanilla most of the time, but also use a wonderful Escada perfume when I’m feeling elegant and sexy.
Favorite authors: Though it sounds awfully cliche, I love J.K. Rowling and I think she’s quite an amazing author. Other all-time faves include Jane Austen, Henry David Thoreau, Jack London and Ayn Rand.
Favorite books: I have read Pride and Prejudice so many freaking times it’s bordering on obsession. It’s that one book I would choose to pass on to my daughters and have them pass it on to their granddaughters and so on. Other faves are, obviously, the Harry Potter series, Walden, Jack London’s vagabond tales from his diaries, Into the Wild, The Fountainhead, The Catcher in the Rye, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Favorite condiment: I find that cinnamon can be that unusual secret ingredient to almost anything, and I’m not just talking about dessert.
Favorite pair(s) of shoes: My really old, trusty Rinndel Ws (Macbeth), Under Armour running shoes, my pink high-cut Chucks, and Aldo stilettos that make me look 6 feet tall, and almost quite literally if you wish to do the math yourself.
Favorite local channel: I honestly don’t watch a lot of TV except when there’s LOST and Fringe.
Favorite beauty products: I live on moisturizer, day and night. I use either Clinique or Neutrogena and nothing else. I also love makeup, though I can definitely survive going to the supermarket without it. I think cosmetics is such a wonderful art, and I like experimenting on different made-up looks when I’m bored or feeling creative.
Favorite magazines: I rarely flip through magazines except for the occasional tabloid — my mom’s guilty pleasure.
Favorite cookie: Old-fashioned chunky, chewy, chocolate chip cookies straight out of a home oven.
Favorite ice cream: I prefer popsicles and stuff only kids normally go for, but the best ice cream I’ve ever had would have to be Arce Dairy’s classic chocolate. It is a Philippine ice cream chain that uses carabao’s milk as their main ingredient. It tastes really different from cow’s milk. A carabao is a domesticated subspecies of the water buffalo, and is the Philippines’ national animal.
Favorite chocolate: That’s a tough one, because I can be quite the chocolate monster. But if I had to choose one type of chocolate that I would have in my pantry at all times, it would be classic Hershey’s Kisses.
Favorite junkfood: Pizza. Junk that gives you junk in the trunk. Hehe.
Favorite restaurant: True Food Indian Cuisine, the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to, located at the beach front in Boracay island, Philippines.
Favorite month: June, because of its romanticized stereotype. Strangely, I feel romantic because of it too. Not a bad feeling at all.
Favorite number: 4 8 15 16 23 42. Muhahaha.
Favorite day: I never really thought of it, but I guess Friday, for obvious reasons.
Favorite fast food joints: None. I said I liked pizza, but I’m into the homemade type. Actually, I guess I do like Papa John’s Pizza. But I don’t like McDonald’s or Burger King or any of those usual fast food joints. Makes me nauseated just thinking about it.
Favorite TV shows: As mentioned, LOST and Fringe.
Dream car: VW hippie van in red and white.
Favorite comedian: I never thought of calling him a comedian, and call me ignorant if I’m answering this just because he does stand-up, but I absolutely adore Kevin Smith.
Favorite subject: Philosophy, especially when talking about naturalism, a field I am most fascinated with, and personally, particularly partial to.
Favorite radio station: Wow, I can’t exactly recall the last time I tuned in to local radio. But I prefer the mainstream ones that play hits and whatnot.
Favorite occasion: Call me a sap, but I love Valentine’s Day.
Favorite cartoon character: Courage, the Cowardly Dog. Just because he reminds me so much of Cooper!
Favorite fashion designers: That’s a tough one. Of course, I’m very biased towards Eric Pineda, a local fashion designer who designs most of our family’s dresses and ties for special occasions. I started going to him when I was 16, for my prom! I also love Monique Lhuillier, also a famous Filipino designer, Marc Jacobs and amazing Australian designer, Alex Perry.
Favorite clothing store: I don’t normally shop as much as the average girl would, so I really wouldn’t know. Although I do love browsing Victoria’s Secret!
Name of pet: Cooper
Favorite athlete(s): Gilles Simon, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Ana Ivanovic.
Favorite sport: Tennis, obviously!
Preferred sports team: Last year, I was all out in my support for Team France for all the tennis slams and lower tier tourneys. Now, I seem to be rooting more for Serbia.
Preferred brand of jeans: Not very particular about it, really. In fact, my absolute favorite pair of jeans doesn’t even have a brand, and I found it in a thrift shop somewhere.
Favorite season: Summer.
Hobbies: writing, reading, hanging out with family, friends and my dog, traveling, eating out
Favorite accessory: Scarves are so freaking amazing and can jazz up any outfit.
Favorite fruit: Fuji apple
Favorite vacation spot: Boracay, Philippines
Favorite alcoholic drink: I’m pretty convinced that I was Russian in my past life. So, go take a guess on that one.
Favorite food: Japanese, Indian, Filipino, French
Favorite hangout: the beach, a nice bar & lounge with wonderful music (not too loud) and fun people, or just home, really. Sometimes, I would much rather stay in and watch tons of DVDs in my PJs.
Favorite dessert: a piece of cake, pie ala mode, a bar of chocolate… the list goes on.
Favorite movie: Of all time? Another tough one! But right now, I’m gonna say Into the Wild.
Favorite cable channels: ESPN2, The Tennis Channel
Favorite website: Freshness Factor Five Thousand
Toothpaste: Crest. Colgate. Whatever. You can even survive with just water and baking soda.
Favorite cake: Oh my god. Choco Roll by Goldilocks, another Philippine brand.
Trademark expression: Whoa, I wouldn’t know. Although I did hear someone say that I tend to look stoic most of the time.
Usual getup: It changes at whim, really. But I love experimenting, especially with funky accessories — such as shades, scarves, belts, etc — and dresses.
Favorite place: Home
